This Technical Assistance (TA) Specialist position for the National Technical Assistance Center on Transition (NTACT) will be primarily responsible for technical assistance with selected State Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Agencies and their State Education Agency and other partners to promote the quality provision of collaborative transition services and planning within the context of IDEA and WIOA implementation. The TA specialist will partner with other NTACT staff at UNC Charlotte and six other funded entities of the project in their work with states. The TA specialist will also engage in the development of resources, relevant to collaborative planning and service delivery. Part of the TA Specialist’s position will also focus on states’ efforts to build local collaborative capacity through quality professional development activities in the state. The TA Specialist will be responsible for the following: Serving as a liaison between NTACT state education and VR agencies in the provision of universal, targeted, and intensive technical assistance services to improve and promote the implementation collaborative transition service delivery. This TA Specialist will include a focus on the collaborations across special and career and technical education, as well as vocational rehabilitation and other partners at the state and local levels. The TA specialist will be required to travel to conduct specific TA and dissemination activities, as well as use web/ video communication to advise, plan, and collaborate with state personnel, NTACT colleagues, and other TA providers.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Masters Degree in a related field Five years of experience providing technical assistance to stakeholders engaged in the provision of transition services, including quality academic instruction including Career and Technical Education. Experience with professional development and adult learners. Prior experience facilitating interdisciplinary teams. Practical knowledge of laws governing special education, Career and Technical Education, and Vocational Rehabiltiation. Strong written and oral communication skills
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
More than 5 years experience providing technical assistance to local or state agency staff. Prior work experience in a state education agency preferred. Experience with professional development and adult learners, specific to cross disciplinary learning and strategic planning to improve transition services. Experience with technical assistance systems in states. Deep knowledge of regulations and policies governing VR and Education agencies and their partners, in the context of youth and students with disabilities.
