The senior network engineer (SNE) will serve as a subject matter expert for LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi technologies and capabilities supporting the business needs of Rice University. The SNE will work very closely with other senior network staff members, network engineers, information technology directors, assistant directors, and managers in order to properly design and support communication systems. The SNE is responsible for the technical aspects of the design, management, and support of networking systems that support the successful operation of Rice's campus networks. The SNE will lead the analysis of customer requirements and development of solutions to meet required performance. The SNE will mentor junior staff members. S/he will recommend hardware and software, plan, schedule, and execute entire end-to-end installations, and communicate project plans and status. The SNE will also install and configure servers, routers, switches, access points and wireless software solutions and integrate new network technology/capabilities into the existing network infrastructure and systems.
