The Center for Computational Fluid Dynamics in the Department of of Physics and Astronomy is seeking a qualified Postdoctoral Research Fellow for a new effort in the field of multi-scale high-yield blast physics. The responsibilities will include:
Development, modification and application of large-scale, production codes to multi-scale high-yield blast physics problems;
Running large-scale problems on super computing platforms;
Interaction with several national teams working on this project;
Attendance of meetings with the aim of briefing other groups and progress and developments; and
Independent compilation of data, results of runs, and writing of progress reports and publications.
Completed a PhD in the field of physics or aerospace engineering prior to the first date of the appointment;
Demonstrated working and authorship (i.e. code-writing) experience with large-scale computational fluid dynamics codes;
Solid knowledge of shock physics;
Knowledge of the FORTRAN and C programming languages;
Knowledge and experience with high performance computing platforms; and
US citizenship required in order to be eligible to access secure data and systems.
Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate with a multidisciplinary team;
Experience in managing and reporting on large data sets; and
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
