Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations, the Director of Operations is responsible for the strategic guidance and operational transformation of all ColumbiaDoctors ambulatory clinical practices taking a collaborative and team-based approach. The Director, in collaboration with the ColumbiaDoctors Access & Patient Experience and Organizational Effectiveness & Optimization teams, and in coordination with the clinical departments, is responsible for the recommendation of operational standards, a data-driven approach to measuring performance, and leading improvement efforts geared towards a consistent, efficient, safe and patient-centered experience.
Leads and develops practice optimization efforts geared towards a consistent, efficient, safe, and patient-centered ambulatory medical practice visit.
Recommends operational standards for all ColumbiaDoctors ambulatory clinical practices. Develops and maintains an effective channel for communicating expectations and monitoring ongoing performance.
Works closely with peers in operation's business units that include Access & Patient Experience, Organizational Efficiency, and Optimization and Quality, and Revenue Cycle leadership, as well as collaborate with clinical department leadership to lead practice improvement and optimization, and new initiatives.

Works with Operations leadership to develop budgets and to implement any new business plans or growth strategies, as necessary.
Ensures compliance with rules and guidelines related to all regulatory agencies and accrediting organizations.
Develops standards and protocols around patient flow and service to optimize practice operations and improve access and service to patients.
Leads practice operations and innovation projects to standardize practice workflows, overall patient experience, and/or patient satisfaction at the direction of ColumbiaDoctors FPO leadership.
Partners with the Director of Practice Operations and Senior Practice Managers to provide operational support to ColumbiaDoctors-run practice sites and ensure that practice operations and patient flow is efficient and patient-centered.
Consults with clinical departments and practices, as necessary, on practice efficiency tools and measures, and best practice workflow.
Actively participates either individually or as a team member on committees and in special projects.
Performs other duties and manages other operations and performance improvement projects as assigned.
BA or BS required or equivalency with education and experience.
A minimum of 6 years of related experience required, including three years of direct practice management experience.
Strong, demonstrated interest, and competency in operational aspects of physician practices.
Ability to work well independently, learn quickly, and adjust work assignments in response to system changes. Ability to handle a variety of duties which may be interrupted or changed by immediate circumstances. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain flexible under stressful situations. Ability to exercise independent judgment.
Must be self-directing, organized, and detail-oriented with strong problem solving and reasoning skills.
Strong analytic skills, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
Outstanding written, verbal communication, and computer skills.
Candidates with relevant advanced degrees (e.g. MPH, MHA, MBA) or clinical background, preferred.
