We are searching for a motivated, hardworking Research Technician, who will contribute to research studying molecules that determine an organism's growth and development. Responsibilities will include protein purification and crystallography, preparing molecular biology and biochemical reagents, and assistance with experiments and data analysis. Studies will cover a wide range of basic science research and structural biology. The candidate will need to work well independently and collaborate with others.
Protein purification and crystallography. This includes recombinant protein expression in bacteria, affinity chromatography, FPLC use, SDS-PAGE gel electrophoresis, crystal tray set up and observation.
Basic molecular biology. This includes agarose plate pouring, DNA/RNA extraction, recombinant DNA cloning, PCR, gel electrophoresis and immunoblotting.
Assisting in the processing, analysis and presentation of data.
Assisting in maintaining laboratory organization and record keeping, including sample tracking, equipment maintenance, and maintaining laboratory notebooks.
Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry or Molecular biology.
Biochemistry and/or molecular biology background. Prior work experience. Ability to learn quickly, work independently, and communicate with others. Ability to maintain, complete, and organize records. Knowledge of basic computer software.
Experience in biological/biochemical laboratory.

Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without an accomodation. The selected candidate must have the ability and availabilty to work independently on occasional nights and weekends (as needed).
