A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in Dr. Alex M. Dopico laboratory, Department of Pharmacology, Addiction Science and Toxicology, The University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Only candidates with no more than 1 year between obtainment of Ph.D. and time of application will be considered. The postdoctoral fellow will conduct studies on lipid modulation of calcium- and voltage-activated, big conductance potassium (BK) channels in native tissue (cerebrovascular myocytes) and using heterologous systems (mammalian cell cultures, Xenopus oocytes, and planar lipid bilayers) to express genetically engineered channels.
Preference will be given to applicates with documented proficiency (i.e., doctoral thesis; original research articles) in electrophysiological recording of BK channel activity at single channel resolution is absolutely required.
