Harborview Medical Center Pharmacy is looking for an outstanding FULL-TIME PHARMACY TECHNICIAN 1 – REFILL AUTHORIZATION CENTER (ROTATING/VARIABLE SHIFTS) to join our Outpatient Pharmacy team! The Pharmacy Technician 1 will coordinate with and assist the Pharmacist with the professional activities and performing assigned daily tasks of the UW Medicine Refill Authorization Center. The Pharmacy Technician 1 will ensure effective communication with patients and staff. All activities are performed under the general supervision of a registered Pharmacist.
RESPONSIBILITIES: • Coordinate with the RAC Lead Pharmacist the daily activities, including work flow with patient refills requests for UW Medical Center, UW Neighborhood Clinic and Harborview Medical Center clinics. • Create refill request encounters in the EPIC system for RAC pharmacist to review. • Create refill request encounters in the EPIC system for medications that are not in protocol for providers to review. Follow-up when appropriate. • Screen and sort refill requests for prior authorizations, vaccines, Medicare forms and controlled substances and route appropriately. • Provide responses or answer inquiries for patients, clinic staff and providers. • Using Right Fax send refill requests to pharmacies. • Model UW Medicine Patient Service Guidelines and refer patients and customers to appropriate resources when needed. • Direct to the RAC pharmacist clinical inquiries requiring a pharmacist’s professional judgement. • Maintain Patient Confidentiality. • Know and follow all Pharmacy Department and HMC policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal laws. • Perform related technician 1 duties as assigned, and if requested staff in the Outpatient Pharmacies.
DESIRED: • Outpatient Pharmacy experience desired. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Experience with pharmacy computer systems and order entry. • Ability to work independently in a creative and assertive manner
