The Radiology Department at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia provides Radiology education for the MD program and graduate programs. We have a part-time, non-tenured track Faculty opportunity. A primary responsibility of this position is to provide Radiology instruction to the various students at the School of Medicine. Specifically, this entails teaching components of Radiology within the M1 Anatomy course and the M2 Introduction to Clinical Medicine course. The position also involves teaching within the M3 and M4 Radiology Electives. This position provides the opportunity to teach Radiology material in courses for Physician Assistant students and Biomedical Studies certificate students. Instruction includes but is not limited to didactic lectures, active learning activities, and small group discussions of cases. This position provides support for the Ultrasound Curriculum through facilitating hands-on scanning sessions and providing assessment of ultrasound skills in Observed Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCE). The Radiology Department works closely with the Anatomy Department so a candidate for this position should be willing to assist with teaching in the Gross Anatomy Lab when needed. Other teaching opportunities include helping with Problem Based Learning sessions in the basic science years of the medical student curriculum. A candidate for this position should be willing to assist with research projects that arise in the Radiology Department or Ultrasound Institute. Another expectation for the faculty member in this position is to participate in advising the students who want to pursue a career in Radiology. Other service opportunities include general student advising and service on School of Medicine committees. A candidate should possess commitment to academic excellence and continuous quality improvement.
