Research Support - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
The COVID19 Detection Program is seeking Laboratory Technologists with bachelor degrees in biology or clinical laboratory sciences. The qualified candidates will work to validate a COVID19 qPCR assay for CLIA certification, and optimize the process. The successful candidates will perform experiments, record results, and prepare reports to communicate results to others in the lab. These positions will design and execute qPCR experiments for assay optimization, maintain records of calibration and preventive maintenance for laboratory equipment, perform regular inventory and maintain records of all reagents and supplies in the laboratory. These positions will also perform duties related to safety, safety regulations and other duties as assigned. The qualified applicants will have experience in quality control measures in a clinical lab setting and will have proficiency in Real Time PCR and in the analysis of the data. They will have experience handling biological samples in a BSL2 environment and have excellent computer skills and basic Microsoft Office software. Some data processing will require familiarity with R script.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four year college degree program in biology or biomedical science; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in basic laboratory techniques; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; the job may require specialty certifications, approvals, or training; may require successful completion/continued maintenance of accessibility standards.
Bachelor's degree in biology or biomedical science. Clinical laboratory experienced preferred.
