Responsibilities Under supervision, the position provides technical support to the perioperative care of patients that includes, but is not limited to, quality control and maintenance of safe and functioning equipment and instrumentation, operation of video endoscopy systems, navigational image guided systems, microscopes, lasers, Integrated Operating Room Technology, and other complex medical devices and systems. The service areas include, but not limited to, the Pavilion O.R., Main Two O.R., Children's Surgery Center, and Same Day Surgery Center. Incumbent also recommends cost reduction initiatives and assists in implementing efficiency improvement activities. Subject matter expert in the clinical setting for Integrated Surgical Suite/Integrated O.R. video routing and display. Comprehensive knowledge of control systems and all its functionality, including routing of endoscopes, microscopes, lights, cameras, C-arms, PACS, Vitals, Ultrasound and all other video and data sources.
Laser Safety Certification is required within 6 months hire.
Proficient in using standard business software including email and common word processing applications.
Ability to scrub a broad range of pediatric & adult surgical procedures is required.
Certification in Surgical Technology is preferred. Surgical technologists are credentialed by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) and are eligible for the Certified Scrub Technician (CST) Examination. Current requirements mandate that qualified candidates for the certification examination have acquired a certificate or degree from an accredited education program. All recommended educational and experiential standards are intended to support all requirements established by the NBSTSA for a qualified candidate. A candidate for the certification examination must be a graduate of an accredited surgical technology program.
Works overtime, floats to other areas within the Main Operating Room and CSC, ability to work weekends, holidays, and meet departmental staffing needs.
Meets on-call commitments within 6 months of hire.
Sitting/standing for prolonged periods, in a close environment with others, with frequently bending, stooping, walking, climbing (ladder, steps) and reaching (including overhead).
Physical strength to assist in moving, transferring, and/or lifting patients and surgery equipment.
Physically ability to lift at least 25 pounds.
Physically ability to push/pull up to 1 0Olbs.
May be in close proximity to chemicals, fumes, heat, noise, cold, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
Must be able to work with adaptability, flexibility & maintain composure during stressful and/or adverse conditions.
This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
