Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
The Department of Communication Studies at Sam Houston State University invites applications for two positions for one-year renewable full-time, non-tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of lecturer to begin Fall semester 2021.
Candidates should have a master's degree (in hand by August 2021) in Communication Studies or Speech Communication, a minimum of two years teaching experience, mandatory experience teaching both online and face-to-face classes, and degrees from accredited universities or institutions of higher learning. Preference is given candidates with experience teaching both public speaking and business and professional communication classes and those candidates with a Ph.D. Service learning/community engagement experience is a bonus.
The position requires teaching public speaking, communication for business and the professions, and other basic Communication Studies courses as may be assigned. The teaching load is four courses, usually in face-to-face format, in both fall and spring semesters. Occasionally, online course sections might become available. Summer courses are not included in the teaching load.
