Scope of responsibilities include Keck Medical Center of USC, OPSC, Norris Cancer Hospital and Ambulatory clinics.Â Implements programs to maintain and direct the functions of Biomedical Engineering department. Fosters a safe and healthy campus environment, conducive to the learning process.Â Provide proactive, responsive, testing and repairs of all Biomedical equipment at all campus locations. Works with other Directors and Managers in all patient care areas.Â Ensures service and maintenance on medical equipment is completed and documented properly as it relates to regulatory and financial compliance. Anticipate and meet the needs of the hospital.
Perform routine, complex and specialized tasks involved in the above. Works with the Associate Administrator, Biomedical Engineering to prepare the annual department budget and tracks monthly labor, materials and purchased services costs.
Minimum Education:â¢Bachelorâs degree in Biomedical Engineering, orâ¢Bachelorâs degree in Healthcare Administration or Business Administration complimented by an Associate degree in Biomedical Engineering (or a related field). Minimum Experience/Knowledge:â¢Five (5) years middle management level experience in a Biomedical Engineering (or Clinical Engineering) department of a hospital.â¢Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.â¢Knowledge of principles and practices of biomedical engineering as applied to the maintenance of medical equipment and clinical technology.â¢Excellent verbal and written communication skills.â¢The education and/or experience background must also have demonstrated the ability to write clearly such material as reports analyses, read and interpret complex written materials, and solve complex problems logically and systematically. Required License/Certification:â¢Fire and Safety Certification. If employee does not have card upon hire one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date.
