Lab Researcher for Mouse Colony Management University of California Los Angeles

Position Description: In close collaboration with the PI, SRAs, graduate students, and undergrads the SRA I will lead specific components of research projects focused on pathogenesis and treatment of muscular dystrophies and will play a vital role in managing of lab mouse colony.
The SRA I will be responsible for maintenance of the lab mouse colony and performing biochemical and molecular biology experiments. Mouse colony maintenance will include (but not limited to) weaning, ear clipping, genotyping, local and systemic injections, tissue harvest, ensuring lab personnel is up to date with Animal Research Committee regulations. Wet lab techniques include immunohistochemistry and histology, microscopy, quantitative PCR, protein purification, western blotting and ELISA. It is imperative that the SRA I has a strong ability to work on projects independently, meet strict deadlines, design experiments, communicate effectively, create formal presentations, write reports, edit/finalize presentations and reports for all team members, and present to academic and industry collaborators on a regular basis.
The SRA I must be highly organized, self-motivated, able to motivate others, capable of multi-tasking, an excellent team member, and an effective communicator. The SRA I will have knowledge of statistical analysis in Prism and prepare data in figure format for dissemination in regular formal meetings, scientific literature, and relevant muscle conferences.
The lab techniques needed are: Mouse colony management, Histology, Immunofluorescence, Cryo-sectioning, and Basic molecular/biochemical techniques (RNA prep, qPCR, cloning, western blotting, ELISAs).
