Responsible for providing optimal health care to their assigned athletic teams at Minnesota State University Moorhead.
Assist the head athletic trainer in providing optimal health care to MSUM student-athletes as well as other visiting teams.
Perform assessments, provide care for athletic injuries and illnesses, coordinate rehabilitation, and work with team physicians.
Communicate injury information to physicians, athletic training staff, coaches, and strength & conditioning staff.
Handle treatment scheduling, oversee medical records, and maintain/update rehabilitation progress reports.
Prepare student athletes for practices and games by applying taping, special padding and bracing techniques.
Supervise athletic training students.
Required to travel with MSUM athletics teams in order to provide the athletic health care deemed necessary with this position.
Earn advanced treatment skills, i.e. Graston, dry needling, ART, cupping, PRI. Other duties as assigned by the head athletic trainer.
Education: Master's Degree in Athletic Training or related field
Professional Licensure / Certification: Board of Certification Credential (BOC) as an Athletic Trainer; Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Registered or eligible for Licensure
CPR/First Aid/AED certification as a Professional Rescuer
Experience: Minimum 3 years experience in a college/university setting
Demonstrated competence in the delivery of health care to assigned teams/student athletes through injury prevention, injury assessment and diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and education.
Demonstrated competence in emergency care, medical referral, counseling, sports nutrition, performance enhancing drugs and supplements, recognition of sports related injury/illness, strength and conditioning, as well as other various medical conditions.
Superior interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate with a variety of individuals, including but not limited to: student-athletes, peers, coaches, parents, and physicians.
Demonstrated ability to make and implement decisions independently.
Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with health care staff members.
Strong supervisory skills.
Demonstrated ability to provide clear and accurate direction to peers and student athletes.
Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
