The Coordinator, Ping Recreation Center is a 12-month, term position (with potential for annual renewal up to 3 years) that provides leadership and day-to-day coordination of the Ping Recreation Center. Supervision includes approximately 65 student employees and focuses on staff and facility readiness, facility scheduling, and asset management within Campus Recreation. The Coordinator is expected to promote and facilitate effective communication and collaboration across all efforts of the department and with university and community partners.
1.Ensure the safety, functionality, readiness and cleanliness of the Ping Recreation Center. Anticipates and identifies issues and areas of improvement, and produces viable and logical solutions. Maintains current knowledge of all areas of responsibility. Assists the Assistant Director, Facility Operations in the operation and care of facilities and equipment within Campus Recreation.
2.Recruits, hires, trains, supervises and evaluates undergraduate student staff. Provides leadership and guidance, promoting teamwork, accountability and integrity. Develops and maintains working relationships, and positively influences and motivates student staff. Commits to intentional and ongoing professional development of all staff. Advocates for awareness, understanding and the diversity and inclusion of all people in Campus Recreation facilities, programs, and communications. Creates a culture of feedback to improve on the team's operations and services. Encourages both employees and users to view themselves as having potential to make meaningful contributions and to be engaged in their communities.
3.Collaborates with the Reservations and Events Coordinator to help facilitate facility rentals and reservations for the Ping Recreation Center. Creates a communication system with facility staff and patrons to enable successful events. Assists with Campus Recreation special events.
4.Assists with the annual operational plan and monitors associated budget. Plans and associated budgets shall include the establishment of goals and objectives. Assists with inventory control. Assists with compiling and analyzing statistical and fiscal data and other information for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of operations. Assesses facility needs and offers solutions to ensure a safe, clean, user oriented atmosphere.
5.Actively contributes as a staff member of the Department and Division that upholds the framework of equity and social justice. Provides leadership, promotes collaboration, and facilitates effective communication across the Department, Division, and University/campus community. Actively participates in professional development opportunities when available and maintains current knowledge of emerging trends, best practices and related issues regarding all relevant areas of responsibility.
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Master's Degree or higher in a related field
