This position is for a Research Specialist within the Tumor Immunogenomics Lab (TIL) initiative that will be a collaborative research program between Dr. Rubinsteyn, Dr. Benjamin Vincent, , and Dr. Jared Weiss. TIL will integrate the wet lab research portfolios of Drs. Vincent, Rubinsteyn, and Weiss in the areas of antigen identification and targeting via novel therapeutics, including work being done in therapeutic neoantigen vaccination and epitope-optimized SARS-CoV-2 vaccination.
The person filling this role will need to work on several projects related to T-cell immunity in the context of vaccination against viral antigen, vaccination against mutant cancer antigens and identification of potentially immunogenic mutations in cancer cell lines. Project management work will include designing, executing, and troubleshooting, informed by the scientific literature and with input and direction from the principal investigators. This will require a high degree of scientific independence. This person will also need to prepare formal scientific communications including reports, presentations, manuscripts, and figures/text for funding proposals.
The specific laboratory work associated with this position includes maintaining cell cultures under various mutagenic conditions and quantifying T-cell responses to both tumor and viral antigens. This work also includes analyses of the genetic diversity of T cell receptor (TCR) repertoires and gene-expression profiling using next-generation sequencing and single-cell sorting and sequencing techniques in the same models. Experiments will be done with both human and murine immune cell populations, after exposure to various forms of cancer or viral antigens. This position will require the person filling it to be a part of a multidisciplinary team with regular contact with scientists from other disciplines. Finally, the person filling this position should have a high degree of capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, including well-developed skills in project management.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
The applicant must have significant experience in cell culture, flow cytometry, and T-cell assays such as ELISPOT or ICS.
Master's degree or higher in Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Bioinformatics/Computational Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Genetics, Immunology, Medical Technology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Physiology, Pharmacology, or Zoology; or Bachelor's degree in one of the above fields and 1+ years of relevant work in industry.
Experience with project management and sample tracking with LIMS, mLIMS and/or similar systems is recommended.
