JOBSUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Senior Refrigeration and AirMechanic performs advanced, complex-level repairs to sustain building mechanicalsystems such as heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and other supportingequipment. Assists campus and non-campus personnel with advanced-level repairsand maintenance.
Checks, repairs, and adjusts complex air conditioning and refrigeration equipment such as hydronics, pumps, cooling tower gear boxes, strobic and exhaust fan systems, fume hoods, and all other steam and refrigeration equipment.
Responds to assigned work requests.
Maintains electronic records and documents.
Handles heating and cooling plant equipment, including high-pressure boilers and large centrifugal chillers.
Uses blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment flow charts, and technical support for advance repair of HVAC equipment.
Uses specialized tools i.e. multi-meters, anemometers, manometers, and thermal imaging to perform shaft alignments and vibration analysis.
Performs chemical analysis to determine water treatment parameters.
Exchanges belts, pulleys, and couplings on motors up to 200 hp with proper laser alignment and tension.
Calculates hydraulic pump flow, refrigeration levels, and air flow capacity.
Abides by local, state, and federal safety standards and codes.
Informs Supervisor of any emergencies and provides solutions.
Respondsto emergency/overtime work, as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
