The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Oberlin College invites applications for a part-time non-continuing Administrative and Professional Staff position in the College of Arts and Sciences to teach one or more laboratory sections of General Chemistry for the Spring semester. Appointment to this position will be for a term of one semester, Spring 2021, and will carry the rank of Instructor.
The incumbent will teach one or more laboratory sections in the area of General Chemistry (CHEM 102 and/or CHEM 101). Laboratory sections are M-F 1:30-4:30 pm. The incumbent would also need to available to meet weekly with other instructors and undergraduate teaching assistants.
Teach one or more laboratory sections in the area of General Chemistry (CHEM 102 and/or CHEM 101). Work as a team with the Laboratory Manager, faculty, and undergraduate teaching assistants to provide a safe and welcoming environment and to provide instruction on laboratory skills and general chemistry concepts.
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field with teaching/training experience and operating knowledge of scientific instrumentation and chemical safety; ability to interact well with a diverse range of individuals, including students, staff, and faculty.
Prior experience in an industrial or academic laboratory and/or a Masters degree. Successful teaching experience at the college level is desirable.
