Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Director, Center for Psychological Services for the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology at Rutgers University. This Center for Psychological Services at the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology at Rutgers University is a state-of-the art training Center providing assessment and therapeutic services to both the university and the community at-large. Reporting to the Dean at GSAPP, this position oversees the delivery of a broad range of psychological services to the community and facilitates professional level training for students. The successful candidate will work closely with GSAPP's academic programs—the Directors of Clinical Training as well as Core Faculty from both the School and Clinical Psy.D. programs – to implement the training aims and objectives of the doctoral program and the directors of GSAPP's Applied Programs to address training needs of Masters students especially in the areas of substance and alcohol use, Autism and Sports Psychology; and Center Directors (Rutgers Center of Alcohol and Substance Use Studies; Rutgers Center for Adult Autism Services, Douglass Developmental Disability Center and Center for Applied Psychology). In addition, the position partners with the Dean on strategic initiatives relevant to the training of psychology related professionals. These include duties related to the advancement of the School.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Responsible for the overall administration of CPS services and programs and for the management of day-to-day operations.
Provides leadership and vision for the CPS that balances students' educational goals, client care and the financial sustainability of the Center.
Manages a team of 8-10 professional staff including an Assistant Director, Psychologists, an Administrative Coordinator, several doctoral level Clinical Supervisors, and 20 or more part-time graduate and undergraduate student staff.
Demonstrates a high standard of professional conduct and adherence to ethical and legal standards in the operation of the CPS.
Establishes and ensures quality standards for training graduate students and additionally, the Director determines policies and procedures for operating the Center, plans, and reviews and monitors the budget, establishes client fee schedules, and leads fundraising efforts related to CPS initiatives.
Recruits and establishes effective relationships with professional psychologists to provide supervision of ongoing delivery of clinical services.
Furthermore, the Director is responsible for staffing decisions including creating, hiring and eliminating positions as necessary.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Doctoral degree in professional psychology.
A minimum of five (5) years of professional clinical and administrative experience including: assessment, psychotherapy, crisis management and mental health service delivery systems.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong supervisory and training experience required.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint required.
Position requires on call.
Management skills required in order to supervise, motivate, discipline and resolve conflicts on a daily basis.
Knowledge of local, state, and federal mental health laws and regulations, APA ethical codes and Rutgers' policies and procedures.
Prefer experience with organizational development and outreach.
Knowledge of electronic medical records strongly preferred.
Advanced training in evidence based approaches with both children and adults preferred.
Candidates who have completed an APA-accredited doctoral program in clinical or school psychology and an APA-accredited psychology internship
