Posting Summary: The Department of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences within the College of Agriculture at Tennessee State University (TSU) is advertising for the position of Assistant Professor of Silviculture and Applied Forest Ecology. This is a twelve-month, tenure track position with research, teaching and service responsibilities. The appointed faculty member will develop a research program and training of graduate and undergraduate students in silviculture, and forest ecology and management. The research program should focus on the silvicultural issues confronting forest ecosystems in Tennessee and the southeastern United States. Potential research avenues for this position may include, but are not limited to prescribed fire, regeneration, plantation silviculture, forest restoration, forest productivity, ecosystem services, and forest stand dynamics; 2) teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in forest sciences and 3) development of service activities focused on public and private forestland owners and the forest industry of Tennessee. The appointed faculty member will work closely with the Tennessee Division of Forestry, Environmental Sciences research faculty at TSU, at TSU and Department of Forestry, Wildlife and Fisheries at the University of Tennessee in developing applied research projects and service-related activities. The appointed faculty member must work closely with other government agencies and natural resource industries within the state. The successful candidate will be expected to develop collaborations with the faculties within the department, advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, develop an externally-funded research program and publish research results in peer-refereed journals. The Department of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at TSU is one of two Departments within the College of Agriculture. The Department offers degrees at the bachelor's, and master's level as well as, the doctoral degree in Biological Science in collaboration with Department of Biology and Department of Chemistry.
