Posting Summary: The Department of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at Tennessee State University invites applications for a 12-month tenure-track position as an Extension Assistant/Associate Professor of Animal Science.
The incumbent will actively engage in the scholarly activities of teaching, research, and extension. They will possess enthusiasm for work with various livestock industries (swine, cattle, sheep, goats, and poultry), emphasizing small farms. They must have a general knowledge of these livestock species and collaboratively work with faculty in fulfilling stakeholder needs. The candidate should have the ability to work with stakeholders and producer groups; linking them to the university is a must. Aptitude and skills to plan, implement, evaluate and report on statewide Extension and outreach educational programs for livestock producers in Tennessee and the ability to work collaboratively with other Extension faculty and Extension agents across Tennessee's state is desired.
The incumbent will also be responsible for the applied animal and/or poultry research, directing graduate student thesis research, and teaching undergraduate or graduate courses as needed. A strong record of obtaining external funding, especially with traditional and non-traditional funding sources, is highly desired.
