The Assistant Director of Facilities & Operations reports to the Associate AD for Facilities & Operations, and works closely with all NUDAR staff. This role provides support related to the day-to-day operations, scheduling, and maintenance in assigned Athletics facilities.
*Ability to work a non-traditional schedule, often including evenings, weekends and some travel as required.
Responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.
Responsible for the maintenance and scheduling of assigned Athletics and Recreation spaces.
Performs daily walkthroughs, and identifies maintenance needs.
Initiates facility repair requests and monitors the quality of services provided.
Serves as a secondary contact for Athletics Facilities and Operations work unit (as assigned) to external users and constituents.
Coordinates maintenance, repairs, equipment storage, and custodial work.
Ensures building signage is updated and in good condition.
Responsible for cleanliness and organization of facilities as needed.
Completes small projects and minor repairs (not requiring a license) as needed.
Identifies the need and number of temporary staff and/or volunteers.
Coordinates the hiring, training and scheduling.
Provides daily oversight of work.
Schedules monthly meetings (as needed)
Responsible for managing scheduling software.
Approves space requests.
Manages scheduling for camps and clinics, including updating the annual summer camps calendar.
Event/Game Day Facility Management
Responsible for leading and/or assisting with game day facility management for all assigned venues.
Leads, and at times assists, with set-up and breakdown of assigned Athletics events, including but not limited to Football, Men’s Basketball, and Women’s Basketball.
Assists with facility-related in-game management for assigned events, and coordinates closely with other Athletics Facilities and Operations.
Ensures playing surfaces are prepared for practice, competitions, and other scheduled activities.
Assists Events Management and Championships unit with special events as needed.
Manages the facility set-up and breakdowns for awards banquets.
Creates standard facility tour routes and leads tours.
Works directly with food services partners to manage facility issues and requests.
Receives and coordinates package deliveries and shipping of packages.
Provides a safe and welcoming environment for student-athletes, staff, faculty, and all visitors.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
2 years of experience in building management and facility operations.
Valid driver’s license.

Communicates effectively 1:1, in small groups and in public speaking events.
Writes precise, well-organized emails, letters, and proposals.

Previous exposure to University-level athletics programs.
At times, may need to lift 50 to 100 pounds and work at heights over 20 feet above ground level.
