The Perioperative Services Intraop Education Specialist is responsible for development, coordination, delivery and/or evaluation of patient care and educational activities for operating rooms staff including RNs and surgical technicians as well as other support staff.Â This Education Specialist interacts works directly with OR staff The goals of the Perioperative Services Intraop Education Specialist include but are not limited to:Â ongoing education and staff competency according to AORN guidelines, on-boarding, training and precepting of new staff. Education will be accomplished in the clinical as well as classroom environment. Utilizing appropriate education frameworks, the clinical educator assesses and determines learning needs, implements education programs, and evaluates education outcomes
Minimum Education:Graduate of a state approved school of Registered Nursing. Bachelor degree required. Masterâs degree preferred.Minimum Experience/Knowledge:â¢5 years OR nurse both scrubbing and circulating experience referred â¢A minimum of 3 yearâs experience as an OR nurse both scrubbing and circulating requiredâ¢Demonstrated ability to effectively work with physicians and staff â¢Demonstrated ability to utilize effective, appropriate and diplomatic oral and written communication skillsâ¢Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervisionâ¢Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word as well as Internet access and utilizationâ¢Ability to participate in and utilize research for improvement of patient care practices. Required License/Certification:Valid California Registered Nurse LicenseCurrent BLS for Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.CNOR certification required Fire and Safety Certification. If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire, and maintained by renewal before expiration date.
