Title Post-Doctoral Fellow
Position Summary The Department of Educator Preparation at the University of Missouri - St. Louis (UMSL) seeks a Postdoctoral Fellow of Literacy Education.
The Postdoctoral Fellow will gain experience working on a federally-funded, statewide research project with a group of scholars focused on developing research-based, equitable literacy education in the state of Missouri. The Postdoctoral Fellow will collaborate with the Comprehensive Literacy State Development (CLSD) project team in all study phases including participant recruitment, quantitative and qualitative research design, data collection, data analysis, and publication of results. The candidate should demonstrate the capability to initiate and complete research. We seek a colleague who can collaborate with the research team throughout the state and engage with local practitioners in the greater St. Louis region. Other activities include supporting and attending the professional development activities and working with schools.

The position will start January 10 or August 10, 2021. The Postdoc is a one-year, non-tenure track position, with possibility for renewal.
Major Responsibilities * Lead or support all CLSD research tasks from research design to reporting of results * Collect, organize and analyze qualitative and quantitative research data * Assist with professional development design and evaluation * Support professional development activities * Co-author presentations, research publications and grant reports * Support intra-university and school-university partnerships * Collaborate with area K-12 schools, community agencies, and state agencies * Collaborate with department faculty
Minimum Requirements An earned doctoral graduate degree in literacy, curriculum, educational research or a closely related field or provide evidence that the degree will be completed prior to the start date of the appointment. Candidates should have publications in peer-reviewed journals, commitment to studying under-served populations, and leadership skills. * Doctorate in literacy or related field * Evidence of a cohesive and relevant research agenda and recent publications * Strong, explicit commitment to educational equity and social justice * Experience with working effectively with diverse students and families * Demonstrated superior communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
Desired Qualifications We are seeking individuals with knowledge of educational research methods and teacher education experience whose expertise will complement that of UMSL faculty. Although we are open to a variety of education research methods and disciplinary orientations, we will give preference to candidates who focus on K-12 literacy and have methodological expertise in mixed methods research and/or evaluation-oriented research. * Knowledge of online learning development and delivery * Experience with grant-funded research * Successful teaching in K-12 * Successful experience designing and facilitating professional development with K-12 teachers
