UW Medical Center's Pathology Support has an outstanding opportunity for a Fixed Duration Appointment, Laboratory Helper (Full-Time, Days). The Laboratory Helper performs routine and repetitive work in the laboratory such as washing, stocking, filing, delivery, sorting, cleaning tasks and other related duties as assigned.
Standards of Performance
- Arrange and organize cassettes for loading onto a processor at designated intervals. Sort, file, and retrieve patient specimens and related items. - Prepare reagents accurately as needed in the laboratory. Maintain/clean laboratory equipment and update logs regularly. Report any equipment issues to laboratory supervisor. - Wash laboratory containers following laboratory standards. Receive and perform inventories of laboratory supplies. Stock and put away supplies as needed. - Aide technologists in daily duties such as tissue discard. Demonstrate knowledge in procedures relating to Formalin and Xylene spill. - Perform other related duties as assigned
- Proficiency in word, excel and power point is desirable. - College credits in science and chemistry -Organization skills a plus
