Middlesex Community College invites applicants for part-time, adjunct faculty positions to teach labs and clinical in Dental Assisting. The need is for faculty members dedicated to excellence and able to work inclusively with students of diverse identities and backgrounds. Our part-time faculty are knowledgeable and creative individuals who have expertise in their discipline and have demonstrated commitment to meeting the diverse learning needs of our students. The Part-Time Dental Assisting Faculty works with the program coordinator will be responsible for delivering course content in accordance with program/college policies and procedures, as well as accreditation standards. The courses include both laboratory time and supervision in clinical externships. The Dental Assisting Program at Middlesex Community College is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) and follows all accreditation procedures.
Provide laboratory instruction in courses with a skill component. This includes didactic presentations, demonstrations, skill remediation and evaluation of skill competence. Lab instruction may also include preparation of equipment and materials for labs as well as securing/putting away equipment after the conclusion of the lab.
Collaborate with program coordinator in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of student externship experiences.
Collaborate with agency personnel in planning and implementing student externship experiences. Includes travel to multiple externship sites.
Promote employability skills and impress upon each student the importance of exhibiting appropriate conduct in the work setting.
Maintain academic standards consistent with a professional certificate program.
Evaluate students' progress often and share those evaluations with them promptly.
Be available to students with concerns.
Meet course objectives, requirements, and student learning outcomes.
Maintain and submit accurate records of student data by the deadlines determined.
Assist the program coordinator in the purchase and maintenance of equipment in the Dental Assisting Lab and Clinic.
Meet at least once each semester with program coordinator
Bachelor's degree or expected graduation date prior to January 1, 2021.
Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) and license to practice Dental Assisting in Massachusetts in good standing by date of hire.
Minimum of two years of full-time experience in Dental Assisting, or its equivalent, within the last five years.
Cultural awareness and competency demonstrated by working with and/or understanding of individuals of diverse identities such as socioeconomic level, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity and veterans including those with different levels of academic preparation, varying physical and learning abilities to foster equitable opportunities and outcomes.
Bilingual skills preferred.
