A Postdoctoral Fellowposition is available in Dr. Modar Kassan's laboratory, Department of Physiology,University of Tennessee Health Science Center. The primary research project isfocused upon the biological impact of microbiome on the cardiovascular systemduring diseases such as hypertension and obesity
Responsibilitiesincludes:
*Design, organize and conduct highly specializedand advanced experiments using established scientific protocols and procedures.
*Design new research protocols for the lab.
*Summarize findings and publish results inresearch journals.
*Establish mouse in vivo pathological changesand manipulate different pathological conditions with pharmacologicalinterventions.
*Analyze molecular signaling mechanismscontributing to cellular stress including but not limited to apoptosis andnecrosis as well as reactive oxygen species.
The postdoctoral fellowis expected to assume general responsibility for scientific operations of thelaboratory; provide supervision and guidance to junior technicians, students,and researchers and enhance professional skills and research independencethrough mentored, advanced training.
Preference will begiven to applicants with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
*Immunohistochemistry, confocal microscopy,tissue culture, biochemistry, viral vector design and amplification, in vivosurgical skills with mouse models, molecular biology, cardiovascular-relatedresearch, or transcriptomics, wire myograph, pressure myopgraph.
*Experience formulating experiments and analyzedata in an independent manner.
*A co-author on at least two peer reviewedresearch publications
*Experience with mouse models.
*Experience using statistical and imageanalysis software.
Strong written andoral communication skills are essential.
