The Information Technology and Services Department at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full time Senior Systems Administrator. The successful candidate will:
Install and maintain centralized Citrix application presentation systems.
Communicate with management & project staff on such matters as budget, departmental IT requirements, policies and procedures, project status, new programs, etc., within time frames specified.
Oversee the 3rd party system integrators and subcontractors.
Possess the ability to bridge information systems technology to users.
Keep abreast of current practices, services, relationships and the impact of external factors on the organization(s).
Install new software releases, system upgrades.
Evaluate and install patches.
Resolve software related problems.
Perform system backups/images and recovery.
Monitor system configuration to ensure data integrity.
Have knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and system administration procedures.
Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
Work under immediate supervision, reports to a manager.
Diagnose and resolve complex problems involving servers, storage.
Have the ability to work proficiently in UNIX and Windows operating systems environments.
Create user accounts and maintain security levels.
Have knowledge of Cisco UCS Servers, VMware, Windows Servers (Standard, Enterprise), Active Directory Services (ADS), Microsoft Clustering, Disaster Recovery technologies, Microsoft Azure.
Have knowledge of Citrix Virtual Apps and Citrix NetScaler.
Apply operating systems updates and configuration changes.
Install and configure new hardware/software.
Answer technical queries.
Be responsible for documenting the configuration of the system.
Troubleshoot any reported problems.
Perform system performance tuning.
A minimum of 4 years of experience in computer support services in the Healthcare industry, and 2 years of solid experience with Windows server with Linux/Unix operating systems
Excellent teamwork and teambuilding skills
Flexibility to work off-hours and weekends
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
Knowledge of SANS, Storage(Pure Storage, NetApp, Brocade) highly desirable
Knowledge of Allscripts SCM
VMware experience a desirable plus
Backup software (Avamar/Acronis) is highly desirable
Excellent interpersonal, written, and/or communication, analytical, team building management, and organizational skills with creative approaches to information systems issues and problems, and a demonstrated record of bringing together diverse functions and build effective teams involving all categories of health care employees is a plus
Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm
