University of the Sciences (USciences) has an immediate need for a qualified candidate for the position of Helpdesk Technician. The Helpdesk Technician is responsible for end user support of campus technology, which includes responding to calls submitted to the University Technology Services help desk. Internal relationships include continuous contact with campus personnel and students.

Responds to technology problems as appropriate, addressing them in a timely manner
Proactively reaches out to clients to resolve their tickets or schedule a resolution
Documents work performed and issue resolution procedures within the ticketing system
Installs or coordinates the timely installation of new or repaired computing hardware and software
Troubleshoots and repairs issues with the Ethernet Data Network, WiFi Network, Analog and VoIP Telephony equipment, Computers, Printers, Basic A/V, and Cable TV
Maintains a high level of expertise in Microsoft Windows operating systems, campus supported desktop computing applications, and associated hardware, and relationships with 3rd Party IT Vendors
Trains student workers, faculty, and staff with the day-to-day operation of campus technology
Participates in departmental meetings and projects as part of the IT/AV staff
Works with stakeholders to coordinate support and staffing for special events, orientations, video conferences, lectures, laptop drop-offs, and meetings
Installs and/or applies Windows images to computers as well as initiates scripts to deploy computers.
Participates and suggests solutions in the planning, design, and execution of new learning spaces, equipment purchases, requests for proposals from vendors, and drafting university IT standards
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
High School diploma
2+ years of experience in computer network environment
Internship and co-op experience will be considered
Formal education and/or training in Computer Science, Network Administration, or similar discipline
Equivalent work experience may be substituted for formal education
A+ or Network+ certification is a plus
Knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems is required
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Must have great oral and written communication skills
Ability to interact with a diverse user group of faculty, staff and students while exercising superior interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently, research issues, and to implement resolutions efficiently
Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and manage your own time on each assignment
Ability to supervise student workers
Ability to interact with and supervise vendors
Ability to follow established departmental policies
Experience in higher education is a plus
Experience with Mac OS X is a plus
Experience with Cable Television Systems is a plus
Experience with Audio/Visual Systems is a plus
Must be able to reach overhead and climb ladders
Must be able to physically lift and transport computer equipment
The position requires lifting or pulling of equipment up to approximately 40 lbs or 20 Kgs
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
The finalist will be required to support occasional weekend and/or evening events
The finalist will be required to successfully pass a background check.
