Lab Technician, Biology - Biomedical Engineering, School of Engineering - (20001619)
This is a grant funded position and is not eligible for severance pay.
Biomedical engineering is a discipline of growing importance in society and is a vital and growing part not only of the Boston area but also of the whole US territory infrastructure - industry, academics, and hospitals. Established at Tufts University in September 2002, the Biomedical Engineering Department is located in the Science and Technology Center (4 Colby Street, Medford, MA), a state-of-the-art research and teaching facility, which also houses the cutting-edge interdisciplinary research activities of the Tissue Engineering Resource Center.
This lab technician job exists to assist in the application of imaging to laser/light-activated therapies for cancer and other diseases. Tumor biology, biophysics, imaging, and cancer therapeutics and a variety of multidisciplinary research techniques will be investigated.
BS degree in biomedical engineering, biology, cell and molecular biology or related field.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a team or individually.
Excellent attention to detail.
Flexibility to work on various projects.
Experience with cell culture, western blots, viability assays.
MS degree in biomedical engineering, biology, cell and molecular biology or related background.
Research experience in an academic lab, cell culture techniques, fluorescence imaging and handling lab animals is helpful.
Experience with Adobe Illustrator, MATLAB is a plus.
