About the Opportunity:
The Department of Business Management at Keene State College invites applications for a Tenure-track Assistant Professor or a Clinical Instructor of Business Management beginning August 2021. We are seeking candidates who have a background in accounting and have an interest in developing collaborative partnerships with students and local practitioners.
The Department consists of 7 faculty and approximately 200 majors and 100 minors. We prepare graduates with a strong liberal arts background along with the management skills required to solve complex problems in an increasingly competitive global environment. Our faculty members have a long history of working closely with local businesses through our internships, community workshops, and service learning projects. We are housed in an historic building directly on Main St., a lively downtown with restaurants and boutiques that is the heart of the Monadnock Region's vibrant and diverse economy. For more information about our department please see: http://www.keene.edu/catalog/programs/detail/345/bs/management/.
The successful candidate will teach required Accounting and Financial Management courses for the major and minor, including Accounting for Sustainable Business, in addition to possible electives, such as Personal Financial Planning and Investments.
An Assistant Professor will teach twelve credits, typically three 4-credit courses, per academic semester. Additional responsibilities include participating in departmental activities and campus-wide committees, maintaining an active record of scholarship, and professional development.
Clinical Instructors are full-time, non-tenure track positions who are members of the bargaining unit and whose responsibilities typically focus on delivery of instruction with applied focus in a specific area, as well as providing service to the department, the college, and/or the profession. A Clinical Instructor will teach 16 credits per academic semester.
As part of their regular teaching responsibilities at this public liberal arts college, faculty members may teach courses both in the major and in the Integrative Studies Program. For more information about this program, please see: http://www.keene.edu/isp/.
Our students come from diverse socio-economic and educational backgrounds, with a high percentage of first generation college students. By the time Keene State College students complete their undergraduate experience they develop critical thinking, creative inquiry, intercultural competence, civic engagement, and commitments to well-being and to sustainability that will serve them as active citizens and lifelong learners. We strongly encourage individuals to apply who will support the College's ongoing efforts to help students become responsible global citizens.
At Keene State College, we share a commitment to diversity, equity and multiculturalism as key elements of academic excellence. We seek faculty with a desire to provide support, mentorship and direction to prepare students to work within diverse communities. One of our aspirations is to develop social change agents with the knowledge, skills and experience to compassionately engage with their future employers, peers and those they serve from diverse backgrounds. Faculty actively engage in collaborative work and service within the department and across the College to advance future-thinking curricular and co-curricular approaches that strengthen our Liberal Arts focus and achieve the College's goals for inclusion and excellence as outlined in the College's Strategic Plan.
