In this exciting role, you will develop, implement, and evaluate programs and procedures to assure personnel safety. You will participate in monitoring the organization's health and safety standards in accordance with OSHA, DOE, and Cal State programs. You will maintain record keeping systems to track and evaluate personnel injury and illness experience. You will conduct trend analysis, audits, incident investigations, and site inspections of workplace hazards.
What You Will Do:
Assist others in conducting safety risk studies. Develop solutions to problems of limited scope.
Analyze and interpret trends and patterns using available precedents and guidelines.
Serve as co-division Ergonomic Advocate:
Partner with Engineering Division Ergo Advocate to address and follow-up on ergonomic evaluation to identify risks.
Run reports to track ergo risks.
Maintain databases to record ergo issues and resolutions.
Serve as co-Division Property Coordinator:
Assist division property representative with annual inventories.
Update the property database and run reports as requested.
Maintain Export Control knowledge to filter division property.
Maintain the chemical database for the EG division container owners
What is Required:
B.S. and up to 3 years of experience or M.S. and up to 1 year of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Possess knowledge of basic theories, concepts, practices, and procedures in a specialized field of Environment, Health, and Safety. Apply the knowledge to simple work assignments to meet specific objectives.
Additional Desired Qualifications:
A professional safety certificate or degree. I.e. ASP, CSP
Public Health degree
This is a full time, 1 year, term appointment with the possibility of extension or conversion to Career appointment based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds and ongoing operational needs.
