The Director of Research and Prospect Management provides strategic vision, leadership, analysis, and implementation to inform Davidson’s development and engagement efforts. Responsibilities include developing strategies for prospect identification and portfolio management, conducting comprehensive research, and collaborating with departments to report on opportunities, and providing background to inform strategic decisions across the College Relations division of Davidson College.
Develop and lead all aspects of a comprehensive research program with unwavering curiosity to discover and inform opportunities to advance the aspirations of Davidson College. Goals based around continual expansion of information, access, and usage of office outputs. Maintain industry knowledge of methodologies, technology and best practices for providing in-depth biographical, financial, and philanthropic research and strategies for speculative segmentation and prioritization. Summarize and present finding and predictions for program directors, gift officers, and college leadership.
Oversee prospect portfolio management and constituency segmentation across College Relations. Includes managing prospect status and assignments, analyzing movement and progress through the donor engagement process, and developing groups for specific messaging purposes. Ensure active process and exchange of information utilizing CRM. Assess and evaluate efficiency and effectiveness of our gift officer deployment plan.
Develop, implement, assist, with projects where data mining, predictive modeling and analytics are required or could be useful. Serve as an office leader in data privacy matters. Guide data acquisition strategy to enhance database. Working with partners across campus, expand analytics capacity in College Relations.
Manage budget, goal setting, operating plans, reporting, staff members and other administrative tasks associated with the program.
Lead and/or participate in various projects and serve as a senior member of the development team.
A Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience in development research and prospect management or doing extensive research in a related field is required.
Proven track record of success and ability to synthesize large amounts of data into concise reports. Strong writing skills and attention to detail. Knowledge of relational databases, data privacy regulations, and technology best practices. Ability and willingness to learn and grow with technological change. Office environment, but will need to be able to climb stairs and occasionally lift heavy files.
