The Peek lab is growing group of talented scientists surrounded by a highly collaborative and supportive environment. We are a part of two fantastic departments - Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics and Medicine-Endocrinology which allows for productive collaborations with a wide-range of translational and basic science researchers. In addition, we are part of a large circadian biology community at Northwestern (CSCB).
Our lab is focused on investigating circadian control of metabolic transcriptional networks and how circadian disruption contributes to metabolic diseases such as diabetes, obesity and cancer. In particular, we are interested in how circadian clocks regulate skeletal muscle metabolism to control postprandial glucose disposal, exercise tolerance and muscle repair following injury. Our recent studies have uncovered a novel link between clocks and oxygen-sensing pathways (Peek et al, Cell Metabolism, 2017).
The Peek lab is seeking a postdoctoral fellow interested in studying metabolism, epigenetics and circadian rhythms. We are located in downtown Chicago in the brand new SQBRC building on Northwestern’s medical campus (Feinberg School of Medicine).
We are looking for highly self-motivated candidates from any area of biology with an interest in whole animal glucose metabolism and metabolic disease. Skills in basic biochemistry and molecular biology techniques are required, and experience in mouse metabolic phenotyping, metabolomic profiling, and/or bioinformatics is preferred.
PhD or equivalent degree with expertise relevant to the research areas.
Written and verbal communications skills, organizational skills, and ability to work as a team.
