- Specimen processing, test performance and reporting test results. Perform only those tests that are authorized by the Director. Testing may be performed without supervision after the Director, Supervisor and Testing Personnel have initialed the laboratory training document that appropriate training has taken place for each test system being performed. Must follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing test analysis, reporting and maintaining records of patients test results.
- Document all corrective action taken when the test systems deviate from established performance specifications. Notify the supervisor of any test systems not within established levels of performance. Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of results, initiate remedial action and immediately notify the Supervisor or Director.
- Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are testing in the same manner as patients samples. Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activity, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed. Must determine on a daily basis that all systems are within established limits before testing may be performed and initiate remedial action when test systems are not within established levels of performance.
Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of laboratory experience with two years in human histocompatibility.
Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information.
Master's degree. Certification CHS, CHT, or Medical (laboratory will assist with certification if necessary).
Working Conditions / Demands
General laboratory physical requirements.
Equipment utilized: General laboratory equipment including centrifuges, pipettors, balances, electrophoresis equipment. Specialty equipment includes Luminex equipment, Thermocyclers, DNA Sequencer, DNA extraction unit. Will train for use of special equipment.
