Perform carpentry and complete maintenance functions for the College according to standards set forth. Will work in all areas of Facilities Management as needs arise.
Essential Job Functions:
Assist carpenters in cabinet making for remodeling or re-construction projects using all hand and power tools associated with carpentry work;
Perform carpentry work which includes minor repairs to walls, doors, floors, ceilings, stairways, carpeting or tile floors, baseboards, moldings, repair or replacement of windows, patching of furniture and other wooden structures within dormitories, academic, and staff areas of the College;
Maintain all tools used in the carpentry shop;
Maintain inventory of shop area;
Maintain preventive maintenance programs on associated equipment throughout campus;
Appreciation of, a sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty and staff of many social, economic, cultural, ideological, racial and ethnic backgrounds.
Education and Experience
High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge and Skills
Well rounded, skilled carpenter. Experience in using hand tools and power tools. Ability to work independently to service the needs of the college, as well as, working with another carpenter. Good written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work from ladders and scaffolding, as well as, in confined areas. Also involves all of the following in various degrees but is not limited to only these physical demands: carrying, standing, pulling, pushing, turning, stooping, lifting, squatting, seeing, sitting, climbing, stairs and ladders, walking, kneeling, reaching, crawling, twisting and writing. Lifting up to heavy objects up to 50 pounds. Mobility on campus necessary.
