The Program for the Study of Neurodevelopment in Rare Disorders (NDRD), in the division of Genetics, is currently recruiting a Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator (CRNC). The CRNC will screen and enroll subjects for protocols in the clinical setting of the NDRD. The individual will assist the investigating physician(s)/Principal Investigator(s) (PI) with preparation of regulatory documents, planning, subject recruitment, enrollment, scheduling, subject follow-up, and study conduct.
The CRNC will train and mentor health care personnel in protocols and ensure protocol adherence under the direction of the PI. Strong communication skills are necessary. The NDRD is a specialty clinic committed to helping children and families with rare, inherited, neurological conditions through evaluation, education, and intervention. Our goal is to improve the quality of life for children with rare disorders through innovative research and clinical interventions. Our multidisciplinary approach focuses on the interactions of genes, brain and behavior, and their effects on child development. The NDRD is committed to training investigators and clinicians in the diagnosis and comprehensive management of these disorders. We are further dedicated to disseminating knowledge throughout the general population and the scientific community. This is a low volume, high intensity clinic that manages all aspects of our patients in clinical care. This position provides direct care to research study participants and makes necessary nursing judgments in the execution of research studies and clinical trials.
This person will be expected to deliver professional care and evaluation of study participant responses to study protocols and will work closely with faculty, fellows, residents, and nursing staff. They will also be responsible for overall management of projects to ensure that all work is conducted in a timely, complete, and accurate way. The duties will include regular interactions with the NDRD Nurse Practitioners and this person will be expected to support them with the coordination of schedules, care of families, and screening for clinical trials in clinic. Master's degree with 1 year experience or Bachelor's degree with 5 years experience in outpatient pediatrics is necessary.
Equivalent relevant work experience may be substituted for degree requirement. Current PA RN licensure is required. CCRC certification preferred. This position is located at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh in Lawrenceville. PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record Check will be required prior to the start of employment.
