Located on the residential east side of campus, The Commons and The College Grind are two premiere RIT Dining Services venues. These facilitates are united by their passion to serve and deliver legendary customer service and experiences that will help support the RIT Community. Reporting to the Assistant Manager of The Commons, the supervisor provides leadership and oversight for both facilities. The College Grind Cafe performs 400 + transactions per day, which also spans breakfast, lunch, dinner , 7 days a week during the academic year. This is a high volume location that serves an assortment of coffee, tea, pastries and sandwiches. The Commons seats 225 + guests and serves approximately 2,000 + meals per day in an food court venue. Patrons who frequent The Commons have the ability to choose from 6 diverse serving platforms which span lunch and dinner, 7 days a week during the academic year. The Commons is a late night operation closing at Midnight 7 days a week. This position has dual responsibility for operational aspects of an exemplary dining services program, and for providing legendary customer service to students, faculty/staff, affiliated departments and University guests. The successful candidate will be expected to work side by side with full-time staff, full-time supervisors and student employees. The supervisor will also be part of the larger team responsible for the operation of The Commons and providing assistance to The College Grind with the goal of providing legendary customer service to students, faculty/staff, affiliated departments and University guests.
Detailed Job Description The current anticipated hours will be: Sunday - Thursday 3:30 pm - Midnight - through May 2021

Sunday and Monday - 4:15 pm - 12:45 am
Tuesday - Thursday - 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm
Summer and school break times will vary
Responsible to all customers and co-workers to provide excellent service in a friendly, sincere and courteous manner.
Hire, schedule, train and supervise student staff, maintaining quality service at all stations
Supervision of full time staff, directing work as needed while working on service line
Responsible for opening and closing the unit and securing the building depending on schedule
Responsible for cleanliness of facility as well as proper sanitation and safety procedures
Carry out special assignments as requested by managers to provide coverage on the line and in the kitchen
Order products from vendors as assigned
Responsible for data input and updates for the inventory, register and student employment systems
Shared responsibility for accounts payable, sales, inventory and student labor
Knowledge of cash handling procedures and Agilisys register system
Ability to open and run the College Grind Coffee Shop
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Required Minimum Qualifications
1-2 years of high volume restaurant/coffee shop experience OR an equivalent combination of hospitality experience
Serve Safe certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date
Mature customer service skills in a fast paced environment
