Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking an Endocrinology Fellow for the department of Medicine department at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Endocrinology Fellows have the opportunity to observe/manage patients across spectrum of endocrine disease and are an integral part of the inpatient multidisciplinary cardiovascular surgery and cardiac and renal transplant teams. The fellows develop skills using an onsite DXA machine, thyroid US machine and various continuous glucose monitoring systems. Training is two progressively advancing levels of competency-based objectives aiming to build medical knowledge, technical skills and competencies.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Build enough skills and knowledge to practice independently in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism — including fine needle aspiration of thyroid nodules with and without ultrasound guidance, insulin pump management, continuous glucose monitoring and DEXA interpretation.
Complete inpatient consult responsibilities at the Robert Wood Johnson University hospital.
Complete clinic responsibilities at the Rutgers Health faculty practice including a weekly continuity clinic.
Complete and present a scholarly project.
After finishing these duties, you complete the fellowship program with American Board of Internal Medicine eligibility in the subspecialty of endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Successful completion of PGY-3 year in an ACGME accredited medicine residency program prior to start date.
