This position directly supports the Dublin campus operations of the Office of Information & Learning Technologies by providing technical support to assist the Director and several managers in providing excellent customer service to all faculty, staff, and students of the Heritage College, which includes three academic campuses, multiple clinical campuses, and our mobile health units. Oversees day-to-day delivery of specialized solutions to both technical and non-technical end users while supporting a wide range of computing and audio-visual medical education technologies.
1.Work with faculty, staff and students to provide mid-level medical education technology support. Responds to personal computing device, associated peripherals, and classroom IT/AV equipment work orders. Response to work orders may involve troubleshooting, and repairing computing or AV equipment, communicating with faculty, staff and students. Follow up with faculty, staff and students to ensure proper operation of hardware and software. Escalate complex work orders to appropriate personnel while minimizing disruption to faculty, staff and students. Communicate, facilitate, and cooperate with other Ohio University support professionals and outside vendors in support of HCOM faculty, staff and students. Implement recommended system solutions and modifications. Study and understand policies, procedures and best practices for medical data and other sensitive data, provide instruction and guidance to faculty and staff to apply these policies and procedures. Preferred experience with electronic medical records and HIPAA/FERPA standards.
2.Participate with Directors and/or Managers on college-wide technology projects to identify opportunities, research solutions, present recommendations, and implement and support chosen solutions. Examples may include identification of the use of electronic devices and technologies in laboratory settings, medical related testing and examinations for faculty, staff and students. Project scope varies depending on college and departmental needs.
Install, test, configure, and train faculty, staff and students on the use and setup of electronic devices and a variety of technologies that span clinical, academic, and research needs specific to medical education technology. This includes assisting faculty, staff and students on the use of various devices and operating system features.
Manage permissions for shared folders and network resource access for faculty, staff and students. Manage and maintenance of various computing devices and audio & video equipment for simulated patient environments. Includes the responsibility to document, analyze and track the appropriate level of access, especially with regards to protection of sensitive data as it relates to HIPAA and FERPA requirements. Group Policy and System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) experience preferred but not required.
Responsible for a wide range of services including, but not limited to, computer operation, monitoring data security, technical support, troubleshooting, software testing, and analyzing usability. Tasks are also dependent on the complexity of software and hardware, as well as the number of systems. The IT Support group may seek guidance or report to IT Management.
Provides mid-level technical computing support and related services to customers.
Provides problem solving assistance to coworkers.
Advises and consults on department purchases of equipment and software.
Identifies, investigates, researches and resolves complex problems; provides troubleshooting that the first tier support is unable to resolve. Simulates or recreates moderately complex user problems to resolve operating difficulties.
Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions; provides input and recommendations with respect to hardware and software requirements, new and updated technologies, and integrity of the computing environment following University recommended guidelines.
Responsible for identifying and recommending system modifications to reduce user problems.
Plans, schedules, tests, and coordinates complex software and/or system upgrades.
Installs, configures, and maintains operating system, workstations, and servers, including web servers and VMware, in support of business processing requirements.
Conducts hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
Resolves complex production problems.
Comprehensive knowledge of technology support obtained by an Associate's degree in an information technology-related field and a minimum of 2 years technology support experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is acceptable.
Specific knowledge, certifications, and licensure will apply at the position level.
