Vet Care Tech – Small Animal Internal Medicine: Work involves assisting a veterinarian in technical procedures and activities involving animal care, specifically in the area of Small Animal Internal Medicine. The successful candidate will assist team clinicians and care- giving colleagues with the reception, treatment, and monitoring of all patients within the Small Animal Internal Medicine unit. Additionally, the successful candidates will oversee and instruct professional veterinary students in preparation of animals and equipment for medical procedures and delivery of care. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: organizes, directs, and provides helpful and collegial assistance to professional students, clinicians, residents, and technical students; performs collection of specimens for laboratory evaluation including blood, urine and feces; assists with treatment of patients in medical, intensive care and isolation wards; assists during receiving clinics with case flow, restraint of animals, student management, sampling, catheter placement, scheduling of radiographs and ultrasonography, and moving animals to ultrasonography; assists and teaches veterinary students; assists with special procedures in all aspects of special procedure room activates; assist other technicians with special procedures in small animal clinic; and other duties as assigned. The successful candidate will be expected to work 40 hours a week on first shift. Schedule is subject to change due to the needs of the service. Successful candidate must be a Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of Ohio and complete a background check.

Degree from an accredited veterinary technology program or an associate degree or bachelor's degree; completed and successfully passed VTNE prior to hire date; State of Ohio Registered Veterinary Technician at the time of hire.
Previous experience as a licensed, registered veterinary technician and/or Veterinary Assistant; combination of RVT and Veterinary Assistant or clinical veterinary hospital support; previous experience as a Veterinary Care Technician – Tier 1; previous experience working in the designated specialty.
