Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
The Department of Emergency Medicine Research is searching for a highly-motivated Research Technician to work in the Sanderson Lab at NCRC. Their research focuses on basic science and translational research focused on cardiac arrest/resuscitation and perinatal brain injury. Specific areas of current focus include mechanisms of neuronal injury, neuroprotective therapies such as hypothermic targeted temperature management (HTTM). Proficient in large animal (swine) and small animal surgery (mouse and rat). The applicant will work closely with several research faculty and other research staff in an established lab at NCRC.
Laboratory experiments will include the following techniques: Maintaining and documenting lab safety, general lab maintenance, rodent colony management, autoclaving, ordering supplies, preparation of stock solutions, and data management will be required. Participation in lab meetings and data presentation are expected. Must work effectively in a team setting, be able to communicate well, and keep clear records. Specific skills that are necessary also include ability to input and analyze data using common software programs. Other duties as assigned.
Vet Tech or Bachelor’s degree and past employment or work experience with animals. Experience with anesthesia, surgery, and post-operative care. Excellent multitasking and communication skills.
Degree in veternary technology, biology, animal science, or related scientific degree and experience with animals and animal surgery. Previous experience with large animals perferred. The successful candidate will have excellent organizational and time management skills, good communication skill, ability to work with minimal supervision, and strong enthusiasm for developing new skills and expertise.
Full time Monday thru Friday. Flexible schedule with possible overnight shifts as well as occasional weekend shifts depending on study.
