Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
The Kruse lab in the Department of Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology at Harvard Medical School seeks a research technician to perform routine laboratory experiments, including molecular biology and biochemistry experiments. Other responsibilities include assisting with more complex experiments, careful record-keeping, and assistance with overall lab organization and operations such as managing supply inventory.
Work in the Kruse lab centers on understanding mechanisms of signal transduction, including signaling of GPCRs and other membrane receptors, with the long-term goal of improving drug development. Experiments will include protein expression and cell culture, antibody and membrane protein purification, pharmacological assays, and may also include contributing to X-ray crystallography or other structure determination efforts. This is a one-year term position from date of hire, contingent upon work performance and continued availability of funding to support the position.

College background or equivalent work experience, preferably in biochemistry, cell biology, or a related discipline. At least one-year related work experience (relevant course work may count towards experience).
Familiarity with experimental design, buffer and reagent preparation, and basic protein biochemistry. Excellent organizational skills are essential, and a Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
