Drafts and issues all publication contracts, amendments, and cancellations on behalf of the Press.
Supports contracts and permissions templates and boilerplate language.
Manages contracts, rights, and permissions data in Press databases.
Maintains the digital archive of legal documents related to Press books and journals content.
Acts as a liaison to other Press departments to help facilitate the publishing process, especially consulting on 3rd party permissions issues.
Ensures that the Pressâ™s intellectual property policies and procedures are implemented in regards to publication agreements, licensing agreements, 3rd party permissions, and re-use of Press content.
Serves as a liaison to publishers, agents, authors, and the general public regarding Press IP.
Analyzes publication agreements and assesses rights held by the Press in order to make independent decisions regarding future use or re-use of Press IP.
Manages all aspects of permissions granting for re-use of Press IP by 3rd parties.
Works closely with the Business Office to ensure receipt and reconciliation of permissions revenue.
Reports on permissions activities and income to internal stakeholders.
Oversees the registration of all Press publications with the US Library of Congress Copyright Office.
Supervises and trains student assistants.
Additional office and clerical functions as needed.
Collaborates with authors to resolve routine problems using existing procedures and to clarify meaning. Assists with quality control by proofreading edited manuscripts.
May coordinate all or some stages of manuscript editing and proof review up to the time the book is bound and edit and approve catalog and jacket materials with guidance from others.
Performs other related work as needed.
Bachelor's degree. Â
At least two years of relevant experience.
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
