The Research Technician acts as a functional member of the Animal Studies Core (ASC) which performs research support and training for the campus research community in a fast-paced environment. Research support duties will include colony management, dosing, performance of experimental studies, and therapeutic interventions. The position will perform associated laboratory tasks and provide research support for other members of the ASC.
Emergency duties required during adverse weather and /or other emergency situations. Holiday and weekend work required on a rotating basis
Education and Experience:
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Demonstrated ability to function in a detail-oriented, team environment.
Demonstrated ability to self-manage time and work independently.
Demonstrated understanding of regulations and guidelines governing animal research.
Must be able to achieve certification by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) at the ALAT level within the first year in this position and the LAT level within two (2) years.
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
Proficiency with small laboratory animal dosing techniques (oral, gavage, IV,IP)
Certification by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) at the LAT level or higher
