Position is located at the Johnson City Community Health Center. The pharmacy technician will help to increase the efficiency of the Pharmacy by assisting the pharmacist in preparing prescriptions and maintaining the day-to-day activities in the Pharmacy, as well as helping to provide the highest level of patient care and customer service. For successful job performance, the pharmacy technician should be flexible and demonstrate keen attention to detail, exhibit initiative, and be willing to work as part of a team. - Takes all steps required to fill prescriptions in compliance with all laws, regulations, and pharmacy policies and procedures. - Maintains a neat, well-groomed personal appearance at all times and observes dress code regulations. - Assists patients who are dropping off or picking up prescription orders. - Gathers and records information needed to fill prescriptions, including obtaining patient health information and respecting confidentiality of this information. - Receives refill requests from patients over the phone, communicates with prescribers and their agents to obtain refill authorizations, and screens calls for the Pharmacist. - Assists the Pharmacist in preparing prescriptions by processing prescriptions, counting or pouring medication, labeling containers, and pricing prescriptions. - Processes insurance and eligibility forms and verifies payment, as needed. - Files written prescription forms. - Takes medication to shelves and maintains shelf stocking, accurately maintaining inventory. - Helps maintain a clean, attractive, and friendly pharmacy, including maintaining the cleanliness of counters and work areas on a continuous basis. - Observes shift operating hours at all times as scheduled or assigned. - Meets work schedule requirements consistently and punctually. - Accesses, inputs, and retrieves data to/from the computer system in an accurate fashion. - Ensures the patients’ needs are first, and serves as an advocate for the patient. - Maintains open and effective communication with others. - Works as part of a team. - Performs other related duties as assigned.
