Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking a Part Time Advanced Practice Nurse – CDE for the Pediatrics Endocrinology department at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
The Advanced Practice Nurse is a member of the care delivery team and is assigned to work with a specific service line or department to provide patient care across the continuum. APN –Providers will have privileges in the hospital and ambulatory environments, and along with the attending of record manage all aspects of patient care. Success of their role will be measured by triple aim: quality, satisfaction and effective and efficient utilization of resources.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Acts as a provider leader in collaboration with the attending of record.
Performs history and physical examination. Documents findings in the medical record.
In collaboration with physician manages the medical needs of the assigned patients. This includes, but is not limited to: Prescribing plan of care and associated orders in accordance with license and scope of practice.
Providing procedures for which the provider is trained and credentialed to provide: See appendix A- need to create list for specific specialties.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, with a minimum of a Master’s Degree.
Registered as a Certified Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority by the State of New Jersey Board of Nursing.
At least (2) years of pediatric experience, preferably as an Advanced Practice Nurse.
Must have a minimum of two to three (2-3) years of experience as CDE.
Certified Diabetes Educator credentials (CDE).
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Maintains current national certification as a Nurse Practitioner by a national agency such as ANCC.
Demonstrated excellent verbal skills for communicating effectively and clearly with patients, families and the care delivery team.
Experience developing, planning and coordinating group classes and other educational programs.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Certified as an insulin pump trainer.
Part of a multidisciplinary team and must possess the ability to work collaboratively with physician providers within the Department, Hospital and/or Section.
Two (2) or more years of experience in Endocrinology.
Able to work over scheduled time when required.
