This position will support a research project focusing on clinically-relevant strategies for HIV cure at the Vaccine & Gene Therapy Institute and Oregon National Primate Research Center of OHSU. The successful candidate will join a highly productive and interactive research group exploring transplant immunology, Cytomegalovirus vaccine vector-induced immunity, and HIV virology using the macaque model of human disease. Responsibilities include a variety of laboratory procedures associated with the study such as sample collection, data entry, statistical analysis of data, and reporting of research findings in written and oral formats. The successful candidate will contribute to general lab support duties, including maintenance of laboratory supplies and equipment, autoclaving, and disposal of waste.
Bachelors Degree (4 yr.) with major courses in field of research/No Experience OR AA (2 yr.) and 3 years of relevant experience
Working conditions: Willingness to work with animal samples which may contain pathogens dangerous to humans, able to work flexible hours. Will be assigned responsibility for ensuring important work is scheduled and completed according to schedule. Will be expected to attend necropsy events. Will be expected to perform a lab chore.
Physical demands & equipment usage: Ability to carry and lift 10 pounds; ability to stand for 3 continuous hours a day; ability to work on computer for 5 continuous hours a day.
