The Occupational Medicine Clinic (OMC) is an on-site organization of dedicated BNL health care professionals. We are a vital part of the Human Resources and Occupational Medicine Division conveniently located in Bldg. 490 and providing care throughout BNL business hours.
OMC's mission is to support the health of BNL employees in order to assure a healthy, safe and productive workforce for the benefit of BNL and of the nation.
We achieve this mission through an emphasis on wellness, prevention and early disease detection, as well as the optimal management and rehabilitation of injured employees. Our dedicated staff strives to maintain excellent standards of care while constantly addressing the occupational and environmental health concerns of BNL employees and management.
Under general direction, and with some latitude for the exercise of initiative and judgment, performs a variety of laboratory assignments in support of the scientific and professional staff.
Will be trained to perform EKGs, and vision and hearing tests for physical exams; willingness to learn various computer applications necessary. Other duties include inventory control and conduction of CLIA waived medical laboratory testing.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Requires phlebotomist certification and 3+ years' experience drawing blood and executing other laboratory procedure
Must execute other laboratory procedures; select proper test codes, label tubes correctly with patient names and dates, decide best method for blood drawing, handle, centrifuge and package specimens.
Must be friendly, courteous with the ability to be a team player with effective interpersonal skills.
Must be willing to learn various computer applications when necessary.
Must possess proficiency with laboratory procedures, which may include operation and maintenance of facilities.
Other Information: Must be available to work on-call as needed.
