Facilitate research projects in greenhouses, indoor production environments, and growth chambers. Install, maintain, and improve crop production systems, including irrigation, nutrient delivery, LED lighting systems, CO2 enrichment, and cooling, heating and ventilation units
Coordinate with Texas A&M Facilities & outside contractors for service
Supervise student workers. Advertise for, hire, and supervise student employees for the controlled environment horticulture laboratory
Purchasing. Locate parts, supplies, and research materials
Assist with data collection and summary
Performs other duties as assigned
Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED plus two (2) years of related experience
Preferred Education :
Associateâ™s or Bachelorâ™s Degree.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Knowledge of laboratory techniques, safety and quality assurance.
Excellent trouble-shooting skills.
Ability to drive a state vehicle to perform duties as needed.
Preferred knowledge, abilities and skills:
Skills in plumbing, electronics, construction, planning & design
Ability to learn automated data acquisition system (data logger and environmental sensors) and the programming language
Experience in nursery, greenhouse, landscape management or controlled environment crop production
Knowledge in website development
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
